When their mother falls ill and has to be hospitalised, Subaru and Shizuku have to go to Hokkaido to live with their father, whom they have spent little time with since their parents' divorce. Although they have difficulty adjusting at first, they soon find their feelings of loneliness fading away under the care of their aunt as they explore their beautiful and lush surroundings. When Shizuku finds a lost puppy which resembles a rare baby wolf, she immediately feels an affinity for it and begins on a journey to help the puppy find its way back to its own mother...
