Misaka is living a lonely college life in Tokyo and during her month long spring break decides to go back home to Fukushima. Going home without notice, she is surprised her mother won't let her in their home and won't even let her through the door. Wandering around Fukushima looking for a place to sleep, she comes across a small hotel called Komorebi looking for a live-in worker. As she moves in, she gets to know the strange and traumatized owner Goro. While she learns about her situation with her mother and about Goro's troubled past, their lives start to cross paths.
