In 1945, when the Pacific War was nearing its final stage. Tosaku Kurihara, the deputy editor of Hyoronsha, who had a peaceful family with his beautiful wife Shino, was imprisoned as a suspect in the spy case raised by the military police. The arrest of the man casts a shadow over the whole family, which from then on, does everything to survive the hard times in which they find themselves.
