This season of the competition was revamped into a new ‟2 1‟ format, with the 1 being ‟Challenge Round‟, which follows after each Knockout. A new Challenger (dubbed a ‟New Generation‟ singer, with less than ten years of singing experience) entered the competition taking place of the previously eliminated singer with a twist where the singer requiring to beat a majority of singers (i.e. ranking in top four or better) or face elimination. If the Challenger was successful, the other seven incumbent singers were in risk of elimination. Votes from the Challenge rounds was separate from Knockout rounds. Like eliminated singers, unsuccessful challengers (unless elected to withdraw) were also entitled to return performance and taking part in the Breakouts.
