An older woman named Feng Chu leases out the first floor of her townhouse to Atty, the daughter of an Indonesian woman, who runs a hair salon there. Over ten years as a tenant and landlady, Atty has been Feng Chu’s only companion and only Atty can stand Feng Chu’s loud and unyielding personality. The two of them bicker and argue day and night, and there’s barely a quiet moment in the house, but now Atty prepares to leave everything behind to start a new life in Indonesia, where her mother eagerly awaits her. Feng Chu grieves the loss of her own daughter, so while she hopes that Atty and her mother can be reunited, she is also deeply reluctant to lose Atty’s companionship.
