Naoyuki Oki (Akira Yamanouchi), who works for a general trading company, returned to Japan after working at an overseas branch office for 20 years, but was soon ordered to transfer to the Kyoto branch office. Naoyuki entrusted his eldest son, Shinobu (Hiromi Go) and eldest daughter, Akemi (Kyoko Togawa), who are unfamiliar with life in Japan, to his wife, Kazuyo (Yumi Shirakawa).
