Wei Hong is a down-on-her-luck single mother who operates an outdoor food stall in Beijing, doing her best to raise her twin children Hao Hua and Wen Juan. The peaceful tranquility of their lives is shattered when a stranger on the run suddenly barges into their stall, shown to be none other than Wei's very own long-estranged husband, Li Qing Xiang. The reunion is cut short by the arrival of Li's pursuers, a gang of debtors who angrily want their money returned despite Li's pleas for more time. In his moment of need, Li seeks Wei's help.
