Mylene and Clarissa are cousins and best friends. After a landslide strikes their community, not only are they separated, but Mylene suffers from amnesia, and Clarrisa ends up in a slum area. While Mylene lives a comfortable life as Katherine with the woman who saved her from the landslide, Clarissa grows up in the slums under the care of a family of crooks. When Clarissa meets Ferdinand, Mylene's father, he mistakes her for his daughter because she's wearing her necklace, which Mylene had given to her. Clarissa decides to take the opportunity to live a comfortable life by pretending to be Mylene.
