Replaceable 2017 / 오늘의 자리 2017 / oneului jali

Ji Won, who works as a part-time Korean teacher at a public high school, goes to a job interview during lunch for a full-time position at a private school. At the job interview, she runs into her high-school teacher as well as her role model, Jeong Man. After the interview, she talks to Jeong Man and finds out that it was, in fact, just another part-time position. The unexpected condition of the part-time job isn't what saddens her. Replaceable shows how the prejudice against marriage, child-rearing, and childbirth of a woman is everywhere and tenacious in a controlled, sentimental way. When she realizes the world she admired is about to crack, she hears a sorrowful whistle from a distance. It is disheartening for us who lives in this world of contempt to revisit ourselves in the past who used to admire the world outside the window. (Source: JIFF)
