Sophomore girl Xu Fang Ting runs a funeral home called ‟Jiahe Xinglv‟ in her family, which makes her an outcast and forces her to form a small group with other misfits. However, she envies the popular and attractive group on campus, known as the ‟Heavenly Beauties,‟ and secretly admires a senior member of the group. The community they live in also sees the funeral home as an ill omen, and the local councilor leads the community members in an attempt to drive Jiahe out of the neighborhood. By a twist of fate, Fang Ting encounters Ke Xin, a member of the Heavenly Beauties who intends to jump off a building and end her life. Thinking on her feet, Fang Ting uses a ‟mock funeral‟ to give Ke Xin a taste of death, in hopes of dissuading her from actually taking her own life. The two become friends, and Ke Xin sees a business opportunity in the mock funeral ritual. She invites Fang Ting to establish the ‟Death Seekers Club,‟ offering paid solutions to various problems faced by teenagers during their adolescence. Fang Ting successfully infiltrates the Heavenly Beauties, but as she becomes more engrossed in their activities, she gradually neglects the crisis facing Jiahe and her old friends. Just when she thinks she's getting closer to her secret crush, the senior member of the Heavenly Beauties, he tragically takes his own life during a mock funeral by ingesting poison. This incident exposes all the uncomfortable secrets on campus, and Fang Ting becomes the target of blame. She must turn everything around, shatter the taboo and aversion to death in both the school and the community, in order to make the Death Seekers Club a true space for experiencing mock death and discussing the meaning of life.
