Temple of the Golden Pavilion 1976 / 金閣寺 1976 / Kinkakuji
In the time of World War II, Mizoguchi, the son of a Buddhist priest is sent to Kyoto to become an acolyte at the famed Golden Temple. However, tortured by his personal shortcomings in contrast with the eternal beauty of the temple, he begins a moral descent that he only sees one possible conclusion to: destruction. Adapted from the novel ‟The Temple of the Golden Pavilion‟ by Yukio Mishima.
