Xie Wan Ning is on her way to deliver a family heirloom, a bracelet, when she is hit and killed by a car. But when her blood reaches the bracelet, she transmigrates into ancient times. When she wakes up, she realizes that she is now in the body of an unfavored Princess, who was framed for having an affair on her wedding day. She fails to keep her new and angry husband, Prince Gu Jing Tiao, away as he forcefully consummates their wedding. Afterwards, Gu Jing Tiao throws Xie Wan Ning into the Cold Palace, wanting her to live a life worse than death. Five years later, noise coming from the Cold Palace attracts Gu Jing Tiao’s attention, but when he arrives, he meets a 4 year old boy who has blown a small hole in the wall. Gu Jing Tiao finds the child oddly familiar - actually reminds him of himself as a child - so he doesn't get angry at him. Much to his aid’s surprise. When the boy is pulled back in, Gu Jing Tiao enters the mansion and ends up face to face with his unfavored Princess Xie Wan Ning.
