In the 1930s in old Beijing, timid Lao Li works diligently to support his family. In spite of the happiness and tranquillity of his family, he feels a deep gap between himself, a university graduate, and his wife, an illiterate girl from the countryside. ~~ Adapted from the novel ‟The Divorce‟ (离婚) by Lao She (老舍).
