The members of Emergency Room 24 must deal with a chronic lack of manpower, a lack of beds, and a lack of doctors. Hospitals now often refuse to accept patients leaving ambulances to search for the next hospital in the vicinity. In the fourth season, a bride collapses during her wedding and is whisked away by paramedics. The ambulance then has trouble finding a hospital willing to accept the patient.
