International student and condemned prisoner Kang Yeo Jin is transferred from the New York State Police Department to a Korean investigative agency for the murder of her husband, Hwang Mi Ho. Park Seung Ho, an ambitious lawyer in charge of the case, gets sceptic when Yeo Jin is sentenced to death, as she stays silent and doesn't defend herself. Seung Ho ignores his own approaching wedding day and decides to go to the U.S. to solve the case after hearing Yeo Jin's taped confessions through Father Kim, who conducted the marriage of the couple. Yeo Jin and Mi Ho were a happy couple who tried to make ends meet while being students. However, from one day onwards, Yeo Jin suffers continuous rape and assault by thugs. Mi Ho, feeling guilty for failing to protect her, starts getting addicted to drugs, alcohol and prostitution and starts abusing Yeo Jin. In one of his abusive episodes, Mi Ho gets fatally stabbed by Yeo Jin. After hearing the tape detailing her husband's moral corruption, infidelity and abuse of her, Seung-ho pleads for self-defense in court, but Yeo Jin is already being taken to prison.
