‟Heart of Ice‟ is based on the true story of short-track speed skating coach Meng Qing Yu, who trained several athletes to become world champions. The film centers on a local coach named Zhao Hong Qi, who has trained a group of children nicknamed ‟little coal balls‟. They are playful but naughty, and they had never been trained in short-track speed skating. However, through harsh training sessions led by Zhao Hong Qi, the children finally live up to his expectations and become an elite national team.
