King of the Children (1987)

King of the Children 1987 / 孩子王 1987 / Hai zi wang

Lan Gan is a young man. Despite the fact that he's barely graduated from high school, during Mao Cultural Revolution, he gets sent down to a remote village to become a teacher. Upon arrival he notices that his students have no books, hence they need to learn everything by heart. Lan Gan decides to fights this system that aims to destroy people's individuality.
