From a young age, Yamanouchi Kazuma excelled only in academics. After intense studying, he managed to pass the entrance exam for a prestigious junior high school. However, faced with an insurmountable gap in abilities compared to top-level students, he was forced to transfer to a public middle school in his third year. He meets a young girl of a similar age who, after losing her father at a young age, lives with her mother and sister, while relying on welfare for their livelihood. The two struggle to see each other eye-to-eye due to their differing backgrounds.
