The Choice Is Ours: What Is the Future of the Japanese Constitution? 2016 / 不思議なクニの憲法 2016 / Fushigi na Kuni no Kenpo

A documentary created with the aim of disseminating knowledge about the Japanese Constitution to the citizenry. Present-day Japan has been unsettled by revisions to Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution which states ‟never to commit war‟ and ‟never to bear arms‟. Amid this situation, the increasing disillusionment with politics by Japanese citizens, who are the true political authority, has caused them to waive their right to determine the shape of the country. The documentary focuses on people, not just a broad range of experts but ordinary citizens, the bearers of democratic sovereignty from students and housewives, to freelance part-timers, who talk about this issue from a variety of perspectives.
