Major Gabriel Labrador believs he has moved on from the pain of losing his late wife and son. Cherishing his newfound family unit with Nanay Berta and Maya Lagman, he moves to his new rented house near their place and continues in his crusade to protect the environment. After a devastating incident, Gabriel is once again left grieving. He finds hope when he encounters Jumong, a 15-year-old charming homeless teen who eventually becomes part of his extended family. Jumong gradually thrives because of the values instilled in him by Gabriel. Among other things, Gabriel also teaches Jumong how to protect himself from bullies and how to get the attention of his crush, Sharmaine. Gabriel eventually accepts an assignment to investigate the environmental crimes of a supposedly ‟upstanding‟ jewelry company that is suspected of being a front for a disastrous illegal mining organization that also engages in human trafficking (particularly forced labor and illegal recruitment of impoverished women).
