The series took place at the decline of the Sui Dynasty, a time of turmoil and political unrest. Famed general Shi Mu Yun severed his worldly ties and ordained to be known as the Stone Monk. He adopted two orphan girls, A She and A De, as his disciples. Together they wandered the land, fighting crime and injustice. While investigating a string of murders, the Stone Monk came face to face with his past, including the wife and son he left behind.
