Marie, a freelance writer, encounters the sudden death of a fisherman called Kamiki, while she was crossing Ishigaki Island. His wife, Ryoko who rushed to hear of her husband's death, witnessed that Kamiki's younger brother, Hidetsugu, was blaming her for the medicine she was giving Kamiki. Marie reports the incident at a publishing house in Tokyo, and at the request of Moriya, a member of the editorial staff, she decides to continue the interview with Kamiki's family. Kamiki was Ryoko's third husband, but it turned out that all three husbands had died of illness, and all three had taken medicine at Ryoko's recommendation. It also turns out that Ryoko has put a large amount of insurance money on Kamiki, and her suspicions deepen.
