Enomoto Yukie, a tourist, discovers a man's corpse floating on the surface of the river. The corpse had been beaten in the back of the head with a blunt object, and a stun gun was found nearby, suggesting that it was a premeditated crime that stunned the victim and beat him to death. The corpse is identified as a 32 years old man Togashi Koichi. Prosecutor Chikamatsu Shigemichi, who has just been assigned to the Yamagata District Public Prosecutor's Office, immediately visits the scene.
