A documentary set in the municipal apartment complex of Kawasaki City which has become host to elderly people living alone and depicts their indomitable existence in the face of loneliness. 79-year-old Sekiguchi Kotoji moved into the apartments upon her second marriage, but after the loss of her husband, lives with her pet bird Ta-chan.
